This interest led her to focus on the objects around her—especially those with a special value due to the memories attached to them. Starting from her own experience of attachment to her possessions, she began to investigate the bonds we develop with the objects that surround us, the human need to hold on to things, and the boundaries between possession and obsession, paying particular attention to the fine line between what is considered normal and what becomes pathological.
From this personal experience, she gradually approached the subject in a broader sense, focusing mainly on everyday actions related to different forms and motives of accumulation, from preserving memories to practices such as collecting.

Today, beyond using the bond with the object as the central theme of her work, she also employs it as a narrative element to address other topics that interest her, such as youth precarity or gender inequality, to name just a few.

Attachment, accumulation, fear of emptiness, obsession, the concept of possession and memory are key ideas in her practice. It is also important to highlight that, although memory and recollection weave together much of her work, these themes never appear from a paralyzing nostalgia—as if the past had always been better—but rather as a gateway to a joyful and critical revisiting of what has been lived, primarily to learn from experience and move forward through understanding.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]

She develops her work through painting, combining it with other techniques such as drawing, screen printing, transfer processes and even the inclusion of physical objects, sometimes creating installations where the different elements and techniques feed into one another, guiding the viewer’s gaze. Even when focusing solely on pictorial projects, she is interested in the concept of expanded painting, as she considers the surrounding space to be part of the work itself. For this reason, her pieces often extend beyond the edges of the canvas and spill onto the walls. In many of her projects, the exhibition space is not a mere container for the work but an integral part of it.

Another characteristic of her pictorial research—especially in works with a more installation-based nature—is the use of materials and techniques that could be described as “non-noble”: everyday materials such as notebook pages, papers found inside old books, scraps, tickets, etc., and even techniques we all learned in school art classes. These elements are interwoven to bring a sense of everyday familiarity to the piece, drawing the viewer closer through materials that are part of their own daily life.
Another major line of her work is her mural practice, where projects with a strong social orientation particularly stand out.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

Alejandra de la Torre Morejón de GirónWith this introduction, a person seems predestined to be known.
